Program details for MSc Mechatronics

The programme basically consists of one year of course work (60 ECTS) and a second year with industrial training and the MSc project (20+40 ECTS). The diagram below shows a typical schedule for a student with a BSc in EE or ME of a Dutch university. But all programmes are tailored for the individual student in a meeting with the programme coordinator. Please contact dr. Peter Breedveld via the secretary: Mrs. Jolanda Boelema, tel. 053-489 2626 or via e-mail j.m.boelema-kaufmann@utwente.nl.
Bridging courses exist for international students and students from HBO and other Bachelor programmes to prepare them for this MSc programme (taught in English).

Bridging courses (depends on BSc - typically 15 ECTS)

with BSc EE with BSc ME others ECTS
Statics and Dynamics   For students with a background in other disciplines than ME or EE an individual programme for the homologation will be set up 5

Projects

Industrial training (20 ECTS) is carried out preferably in an international company or institute. The Department mediates in placing. Students are prepared for this training through a compulsory course in Ethics.
Industrial training, inclusive the preparation for it 20
Thesis project is a research oriented individual project where a last proof of engineering and scientific attitude must be given. It is always carried out in one of the research projects of the groups involved or the Drebbel Institute and may involve third parties like industry or research institutions. External periods can be part of the thesis work. These will be organised through the responsible supervisor.
