EE MSc track Measurement and control

'Measurement and Control'  is one of the specialisations of the MSc Electrical Engineering. It is intended for students who want to specialise in the design of Measurement and Control Systems. Typical for this specialisation is a design-oriented systems approach. The programme is related to the MSc Mechatronics, but misses the compulsory courses in Mechanical Engineering. Students interested in more theoretical subjects or who want to go deeper in topics related to modelling and simulation, control and measurements and do not like the broadening and multidisciplinary nature of the Mechatronics program will like this EE specialisation. The basic programme is given under the programme details tab, but in general, study programmes will be tailored to individual interests and needs.

Relevance of this degree

Applications of measurement and control engineering are widely spread. More and more consumer equipment, but also industrial equipment and cars are loaded with sensors and control systems. They range from simple control systems to highly advanced systems. The latter require the specialist this programme is intended for. But jobs are not limited to these specific areas. Students graduating from this programme have a wide range of employability world-wide. Students interested in a research career, either in industry or at the university could consider to continue their studies as a PhD student.

Prerequisites

Students with a BSc in EE or ME or in another relevant discipline, such as Applied Mathematics or Applied Physics have the right background for this specialisation. The programme is open to students with a BSc from a Dutch university as well as from foreign universities and from polytechnics. Admittance will be based on a decision of a selection committee. This admission committee will decide on a full submission of credentials by prospective candidates and referees.
