Dear visitor,

Welcome to my personal web-space at the Control Laboratory. This website works as more-or-less random directory of my work. If you ended up here spontaneously: feel free to browse through the stuff you can find here. Please do not use or redistribute the material you find here without explicit permission. If you have any questions you can always write a message to the following [email] address.

Work
In 2004 I finished my internship at the 'Shadow Robot Company' in London, working on air-muscle control, humanoid hands and robot spiders. After my graduation work on 'Dribbel', a 'powered' passive dynamic walking robot I have been working on actuators for walking robots. I have been a member of the Dutch Robotics team participating in the RoboCup in 2008 and 2009.

My current PhD research is on the development of a pipe inspection robot for life gas Mains. More info can be found [here].

I am involved as technical researcher in the development of a new bachelor programme 'Creative Technology' teaching courses on physical computing, programming, sensors and two project courses; 'Hybrid Worlds' and 'Living and Working Tomorrow'.

Furthermore I try to maintain a blog on personal DIY projects at retrointerfacing.com, a central site on my activities at edwindertien.nl and a site on technical activities for art and theatre at kunstentechniekwerk.nl. A recent startup I am workin on is "studio13", a fablab inspired workshop for people with autism related issues.

A complete list of publications can be obtained from the Universities E-print system or the literature database of the group.
